The Russellville volleyball team improved to 13-6 Monday after cruising past Sheffield 25-8, 25-7, 25-16.
"They did OK," said Russellville coach Charlotte Dollar. "They played pretty well."
With the score tied 4-4 in the first game, Russellville took command, building a 10-4 lead then increased the lead to 22-6 before Sheffield rallied for two quick points. Russellville ended the game by earning three straight points.
The Lady Golden Tigers stayed hot in the second game by jumping out to an early 8-0 lead. Sheffield earned a point, but Russellville answered by scoring 11 points before Sheffield scored again. The closest Sheffield would get in the game was 21-6.
In the third game, Dollar played the younger members of the team that have not gotten much playing time this season.
The younger players fell behind 8-0, but scored six straight points to get back into the game. Sheffield pulled ahead to take a four-point lead, but Russellville rallied again and took the lead 12-11 and never looked back. Sheffield never got closer than two points from tying the game.
"That was good," Dollar said. "(The younger players) were fighting back and getting playing experience."

Erin Reynolds had six attacks, four kills and a dig. Ariel Howard had five kills, four digs, two attacks and one ace while Taylor Smith had six assists, three attacks, two aces, two kills and two digs.
