Joyce Self Daniel, age 80 of Red Bay, died February 2, 2008 at Sky Ridge Hospital in Cleveland, Tenn. She was born October 14, 1927 to Forbus D &Ara Sims Self. She was a secretary/bookkeeper for a lumber company for more than 20 years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Red Bay where she was church historian and librarian for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services were held February 5, 2008 at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Red Bay with Bro. Dwayne McDuff officiating. Burial was in the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers for the service include Bobby Nelson, Bill Crutchfield, Jimmy Patterson, Hal Keeton, Jerry Frame, Wally Hellums, Rabon Stockton, and Bill Nabers. Honorary pallbearers include Rowe Wren, Kelly Segars, David Markham, Oscar Glover, Donnie Roberts and J.M. Page.
Ms. Daniel is survived by husband, John R. Daniel of Red Bay; daughter, Gayle Jones and husband, Ken, of Athens, Tenn., and one nephew.
Deaton Funeral Home in Red Bay assisted the family.
