Local banks helping cattlemen

The farmers of Franklin County have yet another innovative corral on wheels at their disposal, making this the county's third.
Franklin is the only county in the state to have three.
"We're the only county in the State of Alabama to have three portable corrals to use whenever we see fit," Northwest Alabama Livestock Auction manager Jim Martin said. "Some don't even have any corrals to use, so we're fortunate to have three to use whenever the need arises."
The third portable corral was donated by Citizens Bank.
"If it weren't for Jim Martin of the Northwest Alabama Livestock and his board, Citizens Bank and their board, as well as the hard work and determination of all of the cattlemen and everyone together, we wouldn't be able to get our third corral," Franklin County Cattleman Orland Britnell said.
One man can set up the corral, manufactured by Wilson Manufacturing Inc. of Cherokee, Okla., in seven to ten minutes, Britnell said, and the corral will hold up to 80 head of cattle.
"The corral is designed to save the farmer time with an easier method of setting up panels for loading cattle to move to sell," he said. "It can be pulled by a pickup to any pasture and set up in just a few minutes. Each rear wheel is positioned using one lever to allow the corral to be opened or closed by towing."
The cattlemen, along with the Northwest Alabama Livestock Auction, thanked Citizens Bank for their support.
