Lady Tigers win area opener 57-33

RED BAY – The Red Bay varsity girls opened Class 2A, Area 16 play with a 57-33 win over Mars Hill Thursday night.
The Lady Tigers (5-2) led 31-17 at halftime and held Mars Hill to less than 11 points in every quarter, including only five in the third as Red Bay led by 50-22 at the start of the final quarter.
Chelsey McWilliams led Red Bay with 24 points, while Brittany Scott had 15. Morgan Duncan added 11 points.
Darby Rappuhn finished with a team-high 12 points for Mars Hill (4-5), whose leading scorer, Sarah Bailey, was held to just five points by Duncan.

The Red Bay varsity boys fell 62-46 as Mars Hill used a 19-6 third quarter run to break open a close game.
Justin Paige led Red Bay (0-4) with 12 points.
Mars Hill's Mark Vanhorn had a team-high 18 points, while Jonathan Florida added 14.
