The C.I.T.Y. Program will hold their annual open house and silent auction Thursday, Dec. 6 from 6 to 8 p.m.
Program Director Ramona Roberson said this is an annual event and has been very successful in the past. The silent auction is one of two fundraisers for the program.
"We have the silent auction along with our open house at Christmas," Roberson said. "And we have the motorcycle ride in the spring each year."
She added that local businesses donated items for the silent auction, and the program usually does very well during this fundraiser.
"The silent auction fundraiser usually brings in approximately $1,300 for the program," Roberson said.
Typically, Roberson said the parade begins at 5:30 and that people usually come after the parade is over. However, this year the parade begins at 6 p.m., which may have some people coming to the event a little late.
"We'll be here at 6 p.m., and everyone is invited to come to our facility," Roberson said.
Approximately 100 people attend the event annually.
"We will also be recognizing our graduates at the event," Roberson said. "We're doing a lot in one night."
The C.I.T.Y. Program has a goal to serve 60 students per year. They are an open enrollment facility and take students through out the year, not only at the beginning of each school year.
"All of our students are referred by the juvenile court system," Roberson said.
The C.I.T.Y. Program has been serving students in Franklin County since it opened its doors in 1999. It serves as an alternative school for youths who find themselves in trouble.
