Have a day of circus fun on us

By By Jason Cannon
The Ringling Brothers, Barnum and Bailey Circus will be at the Von Braun Center in Huntsville Nov. 28-Dec. 2.
I don't have that many childhood memories involving trips to the circus – probably because I only remember going once – but I do remember enjoying myself.
Over the past several years, the overall scheme of a circus has changed dramatically.
In the late 50s, the circus did away with the famous "Big Top" tents, opting to perform under existing structures.
It's not hard to run into a lot of money when on an outing with your family, especially considering food, drinks, candy and gas.
Early last year, the famous three rings were traded in for one large oval.
But, while the look may have changed, it's still a quality day of family entertainment.
Things like that are fun for children, especially if the parents don't mind kicking in a few extra bucks for stuff like cotton candy and commemorative t-shirts.
In an effort to ease that financial strain, the Franklin County Times is offering a day of circus fun on us.
The Times will be giving away 24 tickets to our Franklin County readers who can correctly guess how many circus peanuts we've stuffed into a jar.
There is no purchase necessary to play or win.
All you need to do is stop by our office, take a good look at the jar and tell us how many circus peanuts you think we've managed to cram in there.
In the interest of competition, limit one guess per person please.
The jar, which is located in the front of our office, is loaded with the sweet, orange treats and is awaiting your guess.
Each correct guesser will win three passes to the circus.
If there are more passes than correct guesses, those who came the closest will be awarded the passes until they are gone.
The last day to come by and make your guess is Nov. 21. Winners will be called on a first come, first serve basis.
Good luck.
