11-mile yard sale spans county

EAST FRANKLIN – If you traveled along County Road 93 from Franklin into Winston County over the weekend, you may have taken advantage of an 11-mile yard sale that was displayed over the last two-days.
This was the second year the yard sale stretched from the Pebble community in Winston County to our East Franklin community.
The Pebble Community Center and the Union Community Center were two of the main focal points of the event.
Vendors, along with local residents, temporarily set up shop at these sites selling anything ranging from handmade quilts and dolls to crystal and jewelry.
Kathy Snider of Russellville was one of the vendors at the Union Community Center during the event. She had a variety of things, ranging from dolls made of pantihose, rolls of paper towels and glass jars. She also had a variety of home sewn bags in different sizes and shapes, and all priced to sell.
"A friend of mine and I are trying to raise money to go to Peru so we came up with this as a fundraiser," Snider said.
She said that their ideas come from magazines and different patterns.
"I got a pattern for one of the dolls, and decided to make a variety of different themed ones," Snider said.
Snider sets up shop at local festivals and events including the Franklin County Watermelon Festival and Winfield's Mule Day.
The site at the Pebble Community Center was about the same.
There was sites set up to sale everything from homemade products to unused items around the house.
Local residents set up yard sales on their property between the Pebble and the intersection of Highway 81.
Some had massive amounts of items while others only had a few. Each sale was different with in its own unique way.
The residents along Highway 81 also got into the spirit by having a yard sale of their own.
