Cancer Society getting ready for 'Relay for Life' 2005

By Staff
Jason Houston FCT Managing Editor
One sign that spring is near has nothing to do with the weather.
Each year around this time, Franklin County begins gearing up for the annual "Relay for Life," the American Cancer Society's largest annual fund-raiser.
Relay for Life is a non-competitive, overnight event. Teams are recruited from businesses, clubs, families, friends, hospitals, churches, schools and service organizations. Each group chooses a team theme, and members take turns walking or running around the Russellville High School track during the night.
Games and activities held during the event make it a party atmosphere.
Money raised from the event supports American Cancer Society research, education, advocacy and patient services programs.
To register a team or find out more about Relay for Life, call the American Cancer Society at 1-800-ACS-2345 or visit the Society's website at www.cancer.org
The American Cancer Society is the nationwide, community-based, voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives and diminishing suffering from cancer through research, education, advocacy and service.
