No more parking in fire lanes

Russellville residents accustomed to illegally parking in fire lanes need to get out of the habit, according to city officials.
At Monday night's meeting, the city council approved a new fire lane ordinance to be enforced by Russellville Police that excludes all vehicles aside from emergency vehicles from parking in designated fire lanes in front of Russellville businesses. And even the emergency vehicles should only park there in case of an actual emergency, Fire Marshal Bobby Malone said.
The council is expected to take action at its next meeting to establish fines for people who park in fire lanes.
