    PREP ROUNDUP: Yellow Jackets blank Thomastown 22-0

    Anthony Johnson piled up 163 rushing yards and scored two touchdowns as Union remained undefeated with a 22-0 win over Thomastown.
    The Yellow Jackets (8-0) went ahead 8-0 on Johnson's first touchdown, which came in the second quarter, and doubled their lead to 16-0 on a one-yard quarterback sneak by Jacob Casey in the third quarter. Casey also completed 4-of-6 passes for 67 yards.
    Johnson's second touchdown run, a 14-yarder, put the game away in the fourth quarter. The shutout win over Thomastown (3-4) marked the third time this season that Union has held an opponent scoreless.
    Jess Brantley and Nickos Harris each stayed busy on both sides of the ball. Brantley had 65 rushing yards and recorded seven tackles, while Harris also collected seven tackles and tallied 49 rushing yards.

    Morton 21
    Drew Harper threw two touchdown passes and Southeast Lauderdale won its second straight Division 5-3A game with a 24-21 victory over Morton.
    Harper hit Corey Granger and Chris Gordon for his touchdown strikes, and Marcus Walker added another touchdown for the Tigers, who evened their record at 4-4.
    Josh Johnson tacked on a 25-yard field goal for Southeast Lauderdale.

    Carthage 0
    Newton County scored 14 first-half points and held off Carthage for a 14-0 win.
    Colby Amis opened the scoring for the Cougars with a 34-yard touchdown run. Austin Scoggins hit the PAT to make the score 7-0.
    Duke Hudnall scored on a one-yard run in the second quarter and Scoggins made the extra point to give Newton County the 14-0 win.

    Taylorsville 31
    Enterprise 6
    Mason Grissom scored three first-half touchdowns to lead Taylorsville to a 31-6 win over Enterprise.
    Grissom scored on a three-yard run in the first quarter to give Taylorsville a 6-0 lead. He added a two-yard touchdown run and scored on a five-yard run to give Taylorsville a 19-0 lead.
    Enterprise got on the board in the second quarter with a 73-yard blocked field goal return by Scott Mosley.
    Taylorsville finished off the scoring with two third-quarter touchdowns.
    Justin Wilson scored on a 16-yard pass form Kris Thigpen to make the score 25-6 and Chris Keyes scored on a 14-yard run to make the final 31-6.

    Kemper County 6
    Lake picked up its first win of the season with a 21-6 victory over Kemper County.
    Jeffrey Wilson scored on an eight-yard pass from Maurice Pinkston to give Lake a 7-0 lead. Kemper County answered with a 14-yard touchdown run by Marcus Green.
    Greg Sanders scored on a one-yard run and Eric Carter scored on a 27-yard pass from Pinkston to secure the win for Lake.

    Heidelberg Academy 42
    Kemper Academy 14
    Heidelberg Academy jumped all over Kemper Academy on Friday night to pick up its first division win of the year.
    Will Thames ran for three touchdowns and threw a touchdown pass in the win for the Rebels. Thames opened the scoring with a 24-yard touchdown run. Wesley Parker hit the PAT to make the score 7-0.
    Justin Gibbs scored on a five-yard run to stretch the lead to 14-0.
    Kyle Davis and the Rams answered on the ensuing kickoff as Davis broke loose for an 87-yard touchdown. Heidelberg answered with a 55-yard touchdown pass from Thames to Mark Smith.
    Thames scored his second rushing touchdown with a 65-yard touchdown run and Parker scored on a 14-yard run.
    Kemper Academy scored on a six-yard pass from Davis to Mal Alexander. Heidelberg Academy finished off the scoring with a 38-yard run by Thames.

    Wayne County 12
    Mendenhall 0
    Brandon Sellers hit two field goals and the War Eagle defense held off Mendenhall to pick up a 12-0 win.
    Wayne County jumped out to a 6-0 lead on a 16-yard fumble recovery by Kenard Arrington.
    Sellers hit a 40-yard field goal in the second quarter and added a 25-yard field goal in the third quarter to give Wayne County the 12-0 lead.

    Heidelberg 38
    Bassfield 0
    Heidelberg held Bassfield to 99 yards of total offense and picked up a 38-0 win.
    William Sims scored on a 25-yard fumble recovery for Heidelberg to give the Oilers an 8-0 lead. Wesley Terrell scored on a four-yard run and Tommy Thompson scored on a 32-yard run to make the score 24-0 at half.
    Kendall Cooper scored on an eight-yard run and Marcus Hales scored on a one-yard run in the second half to make the final 38-0.
    The Oilers improve to 5-3 and 2-1 in division play. They will host Bay Springs next week.

    Williams-Sullivan 0
    Newton picked up its second win of the season on Friday with a 13-0 victory over Williams-Sullivan.
    No scoring plays were available. Newton improves to 2-6 for the season and will take on Lake next week.

    Choctaw Central 38
    Raleigh improved to 6-2 for the year with a 47-38 victory over Choctaw Central.
    No scoring plays were reported for the game. Choctaw Central dropped to 0-8 with the loss.
