Quiyona Jackson, Candice Wynne and Ashley Jenkins of Lauderdale County were among 750 students named to the 2004 spring semester honor roll at Alcorn State University.
Honor students are classified into two categories: dean's list scholars and presidential scholars.
To be on the dean's list, a student must register for at least 12 semester hours of academic credit and maintain a "B" average. To be a presidential scholar, a student must register for at least 12 semester hours of credit and maintain a straight "A" average.
Jerry Rodgers of Meridian received the Bitterman Memorial Foreign Missionary Scholarship and the Calvary Bible Church Missions Scholarship at the Student Awards Assembly held in May in the Good Shepherd Chapel at Lancaster Bible College, in Lancaster, Pa.
Jason Andrew Adams of Meridian recently received a doctorate degree from the the University of Mississippi Medical Center. He will begin residency training in psychiatry at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.
He is the son of Bob and Bonnie Adams of Meridian and the husband of Denise Adams.
William Edward Elliott of Meridian recently received a doctorate degree from the the University of Mississippi Medical Center. A 1996 graduate of Davidson College, he will begin residency training in pediatrics at University Mississippi Medical Center.
He is the son of Linda Houston of League City, Texas, and Bill Elliott of Tennessee and the husband of Amy Boles of Meridian.
Taletha Brents Smith of Meridian recently received a doctorate degree from the the University of Mississippi Medical Center. A 2000 graduate of Mississippi State University, Alpha Omega Alpha member and 2004 Merck Manual Award recipient, she will begin residency training in diagnostic radiology at Oschsner Clinic Foundation in New Orleans.
Smith is the daughter of Dallas and Barbara Brents of Toomsuba and the wife of Randall B. Smith of Hattiesburg,
Alana Leigh Boles of Meridian recently received a bachelor's degree in dental hygiene from the the University of Mississippi Medical Center. She graduated manga cum laude and is a dean's list scholars.
She is the daughter of Alan and Teresa Boles of Meridian.
Brandi Nicole Bounds of Meridian recently received a bachelor of science nursing degree from the the University of Mississippi Medical Center. She graduated cum laude. A dean's list scholar and member of Who's Who Among American College Students and Sigma Theta Tau, she received the Robert M. Hearin Support Foundation Scholarship in 2003.
She is the daughter of James W. Bounds Jr. and Kathy A. Bounds of DeKalb.
Julia Tate Heblon of Meridian recently received a bachelor's of science nursing degree from the the University of Mississippi Medical Center. She graduated cum laude. A dean scholar, she is a member of Who's Who Among Universities and Colleges.
She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Greg Heblon of Meridian.
Melissa Shea Powell recently received a bachelor's of science nursing degree from the the University of Mississippi Medical Center. She is a dean's list scholar.
She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Powell of Meridian.
