Rosenbaum receives Humanitarian of Year award

Through the years, Alfred Rosenbaum has received many awards for his service to the community, but he was surprised by the one he received today.
The Junior Auxiliary presented him with its 2004 Humanitarian Award in a ceremony at First Baptist Church.
The Humanitarian Award is presented each year to a person, organization or business to recognize time, talent and effort contributed to the betterment of the community particularly to young people. The Junior Auxiliary donates $1,000 to the charity of the recipient's choice.
Rosenbaum said he is proud to receive the award because of what the Junior Auxiliary does for the community.
Rosenbaum, born in Meridian in 1920, attended Meridian public schools and earned a bachelor's degree from Vanderbilt University. Rosenbaum and his, Lucile, recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. The couple has three children.
Rosenbaum is one of the founders of WTOK-TV and Meyer and Rosenbaum. He is vice president, treasurer and chief financial officer of The Riley Foundation.
Rosenbaum will be honored at the annual Junior Auxiliary Ball on Saturday at Northwood Country Club. The ball begins at 7:30 p.m. and is open to the public. For tickets call 681-9999 or 681-8893.
