50th anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Charles B. Grace of Zachary, La., celebrated their 50th anniversary on Oct. 31, 2003, with an open house at the home of Scott and Kim Grace. The event was hosted by the couple's children and their spouses, Scott and Kim Grace and Sharon Posey, all of Zachary, Cole and Fran Grace of Baton Rouge, La., and Chuck and Ruana Grace of Plano, Texas. The couple has nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Mr. Grace is the son of the late Hendon and Mittie Grace and Mrs. Grace is the daughter of Allene Jones and the late Paul Jones. The Graces were married Oct. 31, 1953, in Meridian. Both attended school in Meridian.
40th anniversary
The Rev. Lonnie and Doris Nicholson will celebrate their 40th anniversary on Sunday, Jan. 25, 2004, with their family. The Nicholsons were married on Jan. 25, 1964, in Scooba. They have five children and 14 grandchildren. The Rev. Nicholson is a pastor and has worked in the janitorial services industry. Mrs. Nicholson is a homemaker.
100th birthday
Luna Walker Clay celebrated her 100th birthday on Jan. 15, 2004, with family and friends at Whispering Pines Personal Care Home in Waynesboro.
She was born in Collinsville to Jessie Emmett and Ida Hand Walker on Jan. 15, 1904, and married to Chester Lee Clay for more than 60 years. Mr. Clay died in October 1987. They had taught and been in school administration in Lauderdale, Jasper, Wayne, and Jones counties for more than 40 years when they retired.
Mrs. Clay has four children, Artis Clay and his wife, Bettye, of Waynesboro, Gloria Mauldin and her husband, Talmadge, of Gulfport, Cynthia Shoemaker and her husband, Dewitt, of Laurel and Carey Clay and his wife, Kay, of Brooklyn; 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
She has enjoyed writing poetry over the years and has had several poems published. She is a Mississippi winner of the Inspirational Letters from Americans on Healthy Aging published in 1997 and a member of First Baptist Church in Collinsville.
