MSU looking for third straight win

After snapping a six-game losing skid, the Mississippi State University Lady Bulldogs (7-10, 2-3 Southeastern Conference) will look to capture their third straight win today against Auburn (15-4, 3-2 SEC).
MSU has won back-to-back conference games picking up an 80-67 win over Kentucky on Jan. 22 and a 65-57 victory over Alabama last Sunday.
It will be no easy task for the Lady Bulldogs to win their third consecutive SEC game of the season against Auburn.
The Lady Tigers are leading the SEC in scoring defense, allowing just 51 points per game, and they are tops in the conference in free-throw shooting, connecting on 75.4 percent of their shots.
MSU is set to tip off against Auburn at 7 tonight in Auburn, Ala.
The Lady Bulldogs return home following the contest against the Lady Tigers for a 2 p.m. match up Sunday against Arkansas (13-5, 2-3 SEC).
Following a week off after losing to Vanderbilt on Jan. 25, Ole Miss (12-8, 3-3 SEC) returns to action at home against Kentucky (9-9, 1-4 SEC).
The Lady Rebels, who fell to the Lady Commodores 90-65 in Nashville, Tenn., host the Lady Wildcats in a 2 p.m. match up at the Tad Smith Coliseum.
Ole Miss enters the weekend contest with three players averaging double figures in scoring per game.
Armintie Price is leading the Lady Rebels' offense with 14 points per game, and Genice Terry and Amber Watts are scoring 13.4 and 10.1 points a contest, respectively.
The University of Southern Mississippi women's basketball team will try to breakout of a four-game slump, as the team returns home to Reed Green Coliseum on Saturday.
The Lady Eagles (13-5, 1-4 Conference USA) host St. Louis (7-12, 1-5 C-USA), with the tip off scheduled for 1 p.m.
USM is coming off its two worst losses of the 2003-04 season. The Lady Eagles fell to Marquette 76-54 last Sunday, and DePaul defeated USM 93-72 last Friday.
Following the game against St. Louis, which will air on the Conference USA TV Network, the Lady Eagles will stay at home to host Memphis (13-6, 3-3 C-USA) at 7 p.m. on Monday.
In Southwestern Athletic Conference action around the state, Jackson State (13-4, 6-1 SWAC) travels to Itta Bena to take on in-state rival Mississippi Valley State (4-11, 2-5 SWAC) on Saturday. The game is set to tip off at 5:30 p.m.
JSU will stay on the road following Saturday's contest, as the team travels to Arkansas-Pine Bluff (2-13, 1-5 SWAC) for a 5:30 p.m. game on Monday. MVSU will host Grambling State (5-10, 3-4 SWAC) in a 5:30 p.m. game on Monday.
Alcorn State (6-10, 5-3 SWAC) will play in a road contest against Southern (8-8, 6-2 SWAC) at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, and the Lady Braves return home for a 7 p.m. contest against Houston Baptist (17-3) on Wednesday.
