    PHILADELPHIA Services for Chad Cargile will be held today at 3 p.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. Bobby Joe Butler officiating. Burial will be in Mars Hill Cemetery in Winston County.
    Mr. Cargile, 31, of Philadelphia, died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2004, in Attala County.
    Survivors include his mother and step-father, Kathy and Bobby Bowman of Louisville; brothers, Daniel Cargile of Forest and Larry Cargile of Philadelphia; maternal grandmother and step-grandfather, Billie Ming Jones and William E. Jones of Hamilton.
    He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Cargile; and his grandfather, Daniel R. Ming.
    Retired
    DEKALB Services for Edwin "Ed" Frank Malner will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at DeKalb Baptist Church with the Rev. James Ruffin officiating. Burial will be in Bluff Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Kemper County. Stephens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
    Mr. Malner, 85, of DeKalb, died Monday, Jan. 5, 2004, in his home. He was the retired owner and operator of the Auto Mechanic Shop. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in World War II.
    Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Elizabeth Molpus Malner of DeKalb; a son, Edward Frank Malner of Meridian; a brother, Fred Malner of Columbus, Ga.; sisters, Lucille Valentine of Wheeling, Va., and Rebecca Marshall of Philadelphia; grandchildren, Chuck Malner of Highland, N.C., Andy Malner of Athens, Ga., Melanie Davis of Meridian and Jennifer Dorris of Philadelphia; great-grandchildren, Sean Patrick McCullouch, Kellen McCullouch and Anna Elizabeth Dorris.
    He was preceded in death by his half-brother, Herman Malner.
    Memorials may be made to DeKalb Baptist Church.
    Pallbearers will be Pat Molpus, Marshall Molpus, Tim Molpus, Chuck Malner, Van Davis, Jay Dorris, Don Stokes and Richard Hall.
    Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

    Services for James Roy Thompson Sr. will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Wesley United Methodist Church with the Revs. Jerry Salley and Roy Dabbs officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Barham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
    Mr. Thompson, 86, of Meridian, died Monday, Jan. 5, 2004, at Rush Foundation Hospital. He was retired as marketing instructor at Meridian Community College. He was a life long member of Wesley United Methodist Church. He was was a member of the American Legion, Veteran's of Foreign Wars and CBI Basha Group. He was former owner of Thompson New South Grocery in East End and was a native of Meridian. He received the Distinguished Unit Citation Award while serving with the Flying Tigers in China and India during World War II.
    Survivors include his wife, Queenie M. Thompson of Meridian; a daughter, Jean T. Monroe and her husband, Bill, of Ocala, Fla.; a daughter-in-law, Carole Thompson of Meridian; grandchildren, Bill Monroe Jr. of St. Petersburg, Fla., Roy Douglass Monroe and his wife, Virginia, of New Mexico, Lisa Gardner and her husband, Gary, and Christy Dean and her fianc, Chuck Roberts, all of Meridian; great-grandchildren, Kristina Monroe, Mikela Monroe, Clarissa Monroe, Katlin Bearden and J.T. Dean; sisters-in-law, Katie Moore and Dot Mitchell, both of Meridian, and Hazel Dill of Chunchula, Ala.
    He was preceded in death by his son, Buddy Thompson; parents, Arthur and Vergie Thompson.
    Pallbearers will be Gary Gardner, Chuck Roberts, Bill Monroe Jr., Bill Monroe Sr., Roy Douglass Monroe, Lental Napp and Charlie Wilkinson.
    Visitation will be today from 4 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

    Graveside services for Myrtle Waldeen Stodard will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Meyers officiating. James F. Webb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
    Mrs. Stodard, 88, of Meridian, died Monday, Jan. 5, 2004, in Vancleve. She was a member of Fifth Street Methodist Church. She was born in Neshoba County on Nov. 23, 1915. She was a lifelong homemaker who loved gardening. She found the most pleasure in her relationship with Jesus Christ and her earthly family.
    Survivors include her son, Elmer R. Stodard Jr. and his wife, Joyce, of Madison; daughters, Betty Davis, Dorothy Hobbs and her husband, Martin, all of Moss Point, and Myrtle Hodge of Ocean Springs.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer R. Stodard Sr.; and sons, William Terry Stodard and Charles Edward Stodard.
    Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
