Southest fall to Indians

The Southeast Lauderdale Tigers needed only three free throws to fall in the closing moments, but the Tigers came up short by dropping an 83-81 decision to visiting Southern Choctaw on Saturday night.
The Tigers trailed 82-79 with 30 seconds showing on the clock, and Windham Campbell was fouled attempting to hit a shot from the perimeter. Campbell failed to convert on any of the shots from the charity stripe and that proved to be the difference in the end.
On the flip side for the Indians, the win was a great way to start the new year for head coach Cornelius Mitchell.
Southern Choctaw started the game by taking a 14-6 lead, with 2:28 left in the first. The Indians went on a 12-0 run to take the large lead thanks to six points from guard Brigham Young. The Tigers clawed back moments later with a dunk from Chris Gordon to cut the lead to 14-8. The Indians held off a charge at the end of the quarter to take a 19-16 lead.
Southern Choctaw improved its record to 8-4, and Southeast fell to 6-10.

The Southeast Lauderdale Lady Tigers had little trouble shooting the ball in taking the convincing win over the Lady Indians. Southeast led 22-10 at the end of the first quarter and from that point on the Lady Indians faced an uphill battle.
The Lady Tigers went on an 18-2 run to open the second quarter and never looked back in improving to 16-0 for the season. Stacey Tate led the way in scoring for Southeast with 13 points and Quita Reed had 12 points off the bench for the Lady Tigers.
Brittany Hill led Southern Choctaw with nine points in the loss which dropped the Lady Indians to 2-6.
