Mississippi's Moment

For perhaps the first time, a newly-elected governor is sharing a bounty of pre-inaugural festivities with people outside of Jackson, another good sign of Gov.-elect Haley Barbour's inclusive nature.
Barbour will be in Meridian at noon on Jan. 10 for a pre-inaugural reception at the Howard Johnson Convention Center, one of several stops he will make on a statewide tour leading up to his Jan. 13 swearing in at the state Capitol. The event is open to the public. He will also visit Yazoo City, Southaven, Tupelo and Biloxi in the days preceding the day he takes office.
This is another clear indication that Barbour intends to be governor of all the people. We appreciate his willingness to take his important message of positive change to the entire state even in a post-election environment.
