    Obituaries for Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2003

    BUTLER, Ala. Services for Rosie Lee Andrews will be held today at 11 a.m. at Bumpers Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Chad Adams, Kendall Turner and Jeffrey Rhodes officiating. Burial will be in New Lusk Cemetery in Toxey.
    Mrs. Andrews, 74, of Lisman, died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003, at Riley Hospital in Meridian.
    Survivors include her daughter, Mary Ann Garrison of Lisman; sisters, Sarah Ruth Daniels of Gilbertown and Mary Woodard of Ohio; brothers, Gene Land, Clete Land and Rudder Land, all of Gilbertown; and five grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by her grandson, Paul McIlwain and her parents, George Washington Land and Norcilla Stafford Land.
    Retired nurse
    WINONA Graveside services for Elsie Porter will be held today at 1:30 p.m. at Winona Garden of Memory Cemetery. Oliver Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
    Mrs. Porter, 80, of Winona, formerly of Meridian, died Monday, Dec. 1, 2003, at Guardian Angel Hospice in Meridian.
    Survivors include her sons, Wayne Porter of Meridian, Gary Porter of Natchez and Michael Porter of Grand Bay, Ala.; brothers, Harold Bowers of Farmington, Mo. and Robert Bowers of Koshkonong, Mo.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Porter and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Bowers.
    Visitation will be today noon-1 p.m. at the funeral home.
    HOUSTON, Texas Memorial services for Roy R. Russell Jr. will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Memorial Drive United Methodist Church in Houston. Waltrip Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.
    Mr. Russell, of Houston, died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2003, in Houston.
    Survivors include his wife, Emma T. "Julia" Russell of Houston; a daughter, Melissa Jayne Russell of Smyrna, Ga.; a son, Michael D. McLendon of Panama City, Fla.; and a brother, J.C. Nicholson of Meridian; two granddaughters; two great-granddaughters, three nieces and two nephews.
    Memorials may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 5005 Mitchelldale No. 115, Houston, TX 77092.
    Retired from the United States Government
    Graveside services for Evelyn Ford Leake will be held Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Causeyville Cemetery with the Rev. Danny Balliet officiating. James F. Webb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
    Mrs. Leake, 88, of Causeyville, died Monday, Dec. 1, 2003, in Causeyville. She was a graduate of MSCW and LSU.
    Survivors includes several nieces and nephews.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas W. Leake; parents, Lincoln and Ida Ford; three brothers; four sisters; and three nephews.
    Memorials may be made to Causeyville Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
    Disabled
    Memorial services for Laniece Michelle Majure will be held at a later date. Barham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
    Ms. Majure, 42, of Meridian, died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. She was baptized at State Boulevard Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Meridian High School in 1979, where she was very active in the band. She was voted outstanding band student of the year for several years in a row. She was also a member of the All-State Lions Band.
    Survivors include her mother, Willirene Lee of Meridian; a sister, Kimberly M. Rushing and a niece, Kacy Rushing, both of Collinsville.
    She was preceded in death by her father, William E. Majure; her grandmother Ruby Brame; a grandfather, William Brame and her step-father, T.W. Lee.
    Memorials may be made to Pine Grove Youth Group in the Martin Community.
    Retired Alabama State Trooper
    YORK, Ala. Services for Norman Rouhlac Lindsey were held Monday at 2 p.m. at Livingston First Baptist Church with the Revs. Carl Sudduth and Richard Welch officiating. Burial was in Christopher's Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery in Hachin, Ala. Bumpers Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
    Mr. Lindsey, 62, of Livingston, died Friday, Nov. 28, 2003, at Bryan Whitfield Hospital in Demopolis.
    Survivors include his wife, Earlene L. Lindsey of Livingston; a son, Jay Lindsey of Mobile, Ala.; a daughter, Allison Moore of Demopolis; sisters, Barbara Lindsey VanHove of Mobile and June Lindsey Bertheaud of Opelousas, La.; and three grandchildren.
    Arrangements were incomplete at E.E. McDonald Funeral Home in DeKalb for Catherine R. Davis, 56, of Meridian, who died at Riley Hospital.
    Arrangements were incomplete at Barham Funeral Home for Elizabeth Johnston, 94, of Meridian, who died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2003, at Queen City Nursing Home.
