    FORT WORTH, Texas Nina Bounds Ethridge Miller, 88, of Fort Worth, died Tuesday, July 8, 2003, in her home.
    Mrs. Miller was born the third child of eight to Mr. and Mrs. Walter C. Bounds on Dec. 24, 1914, in Bailey. She attended East Mississippi Junior College. She was married to Scott Ethridge for more than 43 years.
    Survivors include her daughter, Genny Lawrence Mascarro and her husband, Frank, of Fort Worth; grandsons, Jack Rutherford Jr. and Scott Rutherford, both of Fort Worth; a granddaughter, Lauri Lawrence of Fort Worth; great-grandsons, Trey and Chase Rutherford of Forth Worth; a brother, Lowery Bounds of Fort Worth; sisters, Eleanor Morris of Hattiesburg and Dori Golding of Corpus Christi, Texas; a sisters-in-law, Genie Bounds of Laurel and Martha Nell Bounds of Shreveport, La.; several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Scott Ethridge and Ralph Miller; three brothers, Dr. George Bounds, Waldo Bounds and Dean Bounds; and a sister, Bonnie Jean Craig.
    Retired
    Services for James Melvin Swain will be held today at 2 p.m. at Toomsuba Baptist Church with the Revs. Ben James and Jay Cook officiating. Burial will be in Toomsuba Cemetery. James F. Webb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
    Mr. Swain, 88, of Toomsuba, died Saturday, July 12, 2003, in his home. He was a retired railroad inspector after more than 37 years and a Mason.
    He was a member of Toomsuba Baptist Church and served as a teacher, Sunday school superintendent and chairman of the deacons.
    He served on numerous church committees and was a Christian who loved the Lord and actively witnessed to others about the importance of salvation, prayer, tithing and living in God's will.
    He was loved and respected as a father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a retired farmer and an avid hunter and fisherman all his life. He enjoyed many years of traveling and camping after he retired. He was a member of E.J. Knox Masonic Lodge for many years, a veteran of the U.S. Army and the Civilian Conservation Corps.
    Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Mary E. Swain; children, Tommy Swain and his wife, Wanda, and Linda Stokes and her husband, Ken, all of Toomsuba, and Keith Swain and his wife, Cheryl, of Madison; grandchildren, Diana and Billy Shelton, Staci and Jerry Holt, Ami and Scott Rawson, Brandi and Dennis Deavers, and Kellie Swain, all of Toomsuba, Aaron Swain of Clinton, Jennifer Swain and Katie Swain, both of Madison, and Debbie and Kevin Bishop of Dalewood; great-grandchildren, James Shelton, Adam Shelton, Lindsay Holt, Mary Beth Holt, Rebekah Holt, Rachel Shelton, Zach Shelton, Dee and Makenna Deavers, Brandon and Corey Bishop; sisters, Ruth Garrison of Toomsuba, Velma Hayes, Mary Gaddis and Miriam Culpepper, all of Meridian and Pauline Castle of Pachuta; and a brother, Joe Swain of Meridian.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, James Al Swain and Mannie Danner Swain; and a son, Larry Swain.
    Pallbearers will be Billy Shelton, Jerry Holt, Scott Rawson, Aaron Swain, Dennis Deavers, Kevin Bishop, James Allen Coulliette and Bobby Barrett.
    Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of Toomsuba Baptist Church.
    Retired
    UNION Services for Gwen Dowdle will be held today at noon at Stephens Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Barry Skelton officiating. Burial will be in Union City Cemetery.
    Mrs. Dowdle, 85, of Union, died Monday, July 14, 2003, at Alliance-Laird Hospital in Union. She was retired from Midland Shirt Company.
    Survivors include her daughter, Mary Dowdle Hagan and her husband, Charlie, of Union; a son, Jerry Brooks Dowdle of Union; grandsons, Van Nelson Hagan and his wife, Melissa, of Ridgeland and Justin Brooks Hagan of Union; one great-grandchild, Samantha Gwennell Hagan of Ridgeland; several nieces and nephews.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Alton Brooks Dowdle.
    Pallbearers will be Ed Ogletree, Albert James, Bobby Freeman, Blake Richardson and Harold Carlton.
    Visitation will be today beginning at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.

    PHILADELPHIA Services for Betty Lou Warren will be held today at 2 p.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. Duaine Morgan officiating. Burial will be in Old Pearl Valley Cemetery.
    Ms. Warren, 56, of Philadelphia, died Saturday, July 12, 2003, in her home.
    Survivors include her sister, Peggy Keene of Meridian; and a brother, John Warren of Philadelphia.
