    Retired
    Services for the Rev. Clinton Whitlock will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Savannah Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. William J. Harper Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Berry and Gardner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
    Rev. Whitlock, 82, of Meridian, died Thursday, June 19, 2003, at Riley Nursing Center.
    Survivors include his wife, Edna Whitlock of Meridian; a daughter, Evelyn Brown of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a step-daughter, Edna L. Grant of Meridian; a step-son, Jimmie L. Lewis of Mobile, Ala.; a sister, Flossie McWilliams of Meridian; and two half-sisters, Willie Mae Stamps of Florida and Mamie Jones of Detroit.
    He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
    Visitation will be Tuesday 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
    Graveside services for Ruth Miller Poynter were to be held today at 10 a.m. at Magnolia Cemetery with the Rev. Anne Davis Brumfield officiating. Barham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
    Mrs. Poynter, 86, of Memphis, died Friday, June 20, 2003, in Memphis. She had lived in Memphis for the past two years, but was a longtime resident of Meridian. She was a native of Columbus and moved to Meridian in 1940.
    As a member of First Baptist Church, Mrs. Poynter served many years as superintendent of the primary Sunday school department. An avid golfer and member of Northwood Ladies Golf Association, she was also a volunteer for many years with Rush Hospital's Pink Ladies, the American Red Cross and Meals on Wheels.
    Mrs. Poynter was an active associate of the Meridian Junior Auxiliary and was honored in 1968 by being chosen Queen of the Meridian Junior Auxiliary Charity Ball.
    Survivors include her daughter, Margaret Poynter McPherson and her husband, Tom, of Germantown, Tenn.; her son, Hayden Clarence Poynter Jr. and his wife, Susan, of Atlanta; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Hayden Clarence "Pete" Poynter.
    Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church.
    Former employee of Peavey Electronics
    Memorial services for Steven H. Walker will be held today at 11 a.m. at Midway Baptist Church with the Rev. Keith Grubbs officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. in Lakewood Memorial Park Cemetery in Jackson. Barham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
    Mr. Walker, 47, of Collinsville, died Saturday, June 21, 2003, at Heartfelt Hospice. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
    Survivors include his wife, Betty Walker of Collinsville; children, Cody Walker and Cari Walker; his mother, Ann Walker of Meridian; a sister, Cheri Mallette and her husband, Greg, of Meridian; brothers, Rick Walker and his wife, Debbie, of Brandon and Mark Walker of Jackson; nieces and nephews, Kelli Walker, Casey Walker, Will Mallette, Christopher Mallette and Megan Mallette.
    He was preceded in death by his father, Solon Walker.
    Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society.
    Honorary pallbearers will be Victor May, Wes Bland, Allen Bishop, Bill Cole and Greg Parr.
    Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
    BUTLER, Ala. Graveside services for Sarah Wilcox Mozingo will be held today at 11 a.m. at Hopewell Cemetery in Lavaca. Bumpers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
    Mrs. Mozingo, of Lavaca, died, Saturday, June 21, 2003, in Meridian.
    Survivors include her husband, Neil Mozingo of Lavaca; a son, John W. Hall of Mobile, Ala.; and one grandson.
    Memorials may be made to the Choctaw County Genealogical Society, 691 Highway 114, Butler, AL 36904 or the Choctaw County Public Library, 124 N. Mulberry St., Butler AL 36904.
    Retired
    JACKSON Services for Dr. Allen David Bishop Jr. will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Christ United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery in Meridian. Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
    Dr. Bishop, 64, of Jackson, was born Sept. 5, 1938, and attended Meridian Junior College and Millsaps College. He completed his master's and Ph.D. degrees at Louisiana State University and the University of Houston. He has lived in Jackson since 1967 and was professor emeritus of chemistry at Millsaps College, having taught for more than 35 years.
    His many accomplishments include, Distinguished Professor of the Year award at Millsaps College, Outstanding Methodist Award for Higher Education and Outstanding Educator Award of the Mississippi Section of the American Chemical Society for the year 2000.
    He was very involved in establishing the use of computing on the Millsaps campus and served as director of academic computing until his retirement. He was instrumental in the organization of the computer studies department.
    He served in the National Guard in Mississippi and Louisiana and was an active member of Christ United Methodist Church.
    Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Julia of Jackson; a daughter, Marie Whitt and her husband, Kevin, of Birmingham, Ala.; a son, Allen David Bishop III and his wife, Megan, of Meridian; two grandchildren, Annie Marie Whitt and Allen David Bishop IV; an aunt, Mary Alice Braswell of Meridian; and an uncle, John Bishop of Knoxville, Tenn.
    Visitation will be today 5 p.m.-7 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
