Bank tellers recognized for customer services

By By Lynette Wilson / staff writer

Brenda Sullivan knows how to handle money. For 23 years she's worked at Citizen's National Bank as a teller and customer service representative, first at the bank's Broadmoor branch, and, for the last 19 years, downtown.
Since 1996, one week in October has been set aside for financial institutions to show their appreciation to their tellers, and Bank Teller Appreciation Week unfolds this week.
She said the thing she likes most about her job is the customers and that she's gotten to know a lot of people.
Michael Gibson, assistant vice president of marketing for Citizen's National Bank, said tellers are on the front lines of customer service.
Gibson said the bank's customer service representatives help customers with anything from cashing a check to opening an account.
The same holds true at Great Southern National Bank.
Michelle Rowland, assistant vice president and marketing officer, said while her tellers work at a hectic pace, they still manage to meet and greet each customer and somehow give each transaction a personal touch.
