Winston Academy wins MPSA North fast-pitch softball championship

The Lady Patriots of Winston Academy won the North State Softball Tournament after winning four games this weekend.
With the victories, Winston improves to an impressive 16-2 on the season. The wins also help the team advance to the Class A Tournament at Greenville Christian School.
In the first game of the tournament, Winston defeated Central Holmes Academy 10-0. Anna Ard picked up the win on the mound for the Lady Patriots. Winston had only three hits in the big victory.
Winston took a 7-2 victory over Strider Academy in the second game. The Lady Patriots had three hits in the victory. Ard allowed just two hits in the game to pick up her second win of the tournament. Suzanne Stewart had a double in the win.
In their third game, the Lady Patriots took a close 2-0 win over Winona Christian. Ard gave up just two hits in the game. Stewart had a double in the victory for Winston.
In the fourth game, Winston beat Winona Christian 7-1. The Lady Patriots had five hits in the victory. Traci Whitehead and Nichole Ball had a double each in the win. Ard picked up the win in the game after allowing just three hits in the game.
The Lady Patriots will be back in action when they travel to play Leake Academy in a regular season game tonight.
