James R. Williamson D.M.D., a native of Meridian, has been named general chairman of the Hinman Dental Meeting one of the country's largest and most prestigious continuing education programs for the dental profession.
For more than 30 years, Williamson has been a practicing dentist in Lilburn, Ga. He is the son of Beatrice "Bea" Williamson of Meridian and the late Wilbern Williamson.
Williamson has served in many executive positions including program chairman, vice president and now general chairman. He also has been a member of the American Dental Association and the Georgia Dental Association for more than 30 years.
Airman First Class Matt Pope has successfully completed the Air Traffic Control Technical School at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi.
Pope will report to his duty station at Laughlin Air Base in Del Rio, Texas, on March 26. He is the son of Randy Pope of Meridian.
Army National Guard Pvt. De'Ontae Coleman has graduated from the petroleum supply specialist advanced individual training course at Fort Lee, Petersburg, Va.
The student received instruction in receipt, storage, issue, shipping and distribution of petroleum, oil and lubricant products used by the Army.
The course included training in petroleum and water accounting, operating equipment associated with fuels and water distribution; and fueling and defueling operations and procedures on vehicles, aircraft and stationary equipment.
Coleman is the son of Roosevelt and Eola Coleman of Meridian. He is a 2001 graduate of Meridian High School.
Army Pfc. Dahlia L. Granger has graduated from the rough terrain cargo specialist advanced individual training course at Fort Eustis, Newport News, Va.
During the course, the soldier received instructions in terminal operations safety, rigging and stowage of cargo, winch operations, and the loading, securing, and discharging of cargo and heavy lifts for rough terrain operations.
Granger is the daughter of Loretha E. Granger of Meridian. She is a 1999 graduate of Southeast Lauderdale High School.
