Summer fun won't be limited solely to Okatibbee Lake.
Clarkco State Park in Clarke County and Archusa Water Park in Quitman also will offer many activities for families.
Clarkco has nature trails, a picnic area, lighted tennis courts and a 65-acre lake. It also has campgrounds, cabins and recreational vehicle hookups.
The swimming area at the lake is scheduled to open May 15.
Rob Riley, assistant manager of the park, said the park will celebrate its 27th annual Day in the Park activities on May 25. The park is about 20 miles south of Meridian on Highway 45.
Archusa Water Park, on Highway 511 in Quitman, offers similar features. The park also has hiking and biking trails and a swimming area already open on the 440-acre lake.
Park manager Patti Tindall also praised the fishing: "The fishing has really been good. We recently re-stocked with bass and brim."
