West Lauderdale wins 3A golf title

Shane Parker fired a 72 to not only win medalist honors in the District 5-3A Golf Tournament played at Philadelphia Country Club on Wednesday, but also to lead his West Lauderdale Knights to a 39-stroke win in the tournament.
West Lauderdale scored a 312, while Carthage was second a 351, Philadelphia third at 355, Newton County fourth at 363, Southeast Lauderdale fifth at 378 and Choctaw Central sixth at 443.
Ross McWilliams carded a76 for West Lauderdale, while Mathew Smith had a 79 and L.J. Robinson and Josh Murphy each fired 85s.
No other individiual scores were reported from that tournament.
West Jones won the District 5-4A Tournament played at Briarwood Country Club.
The Mustangs fired a 310, behind the 76 of Jeremy Young, who took medalist honors. He actually tied with teammate David Hagen, but won on a scorecard playoff.
Northeast Jones was second with a 337, while Northeast Lauderdale carded a 338.
Brok Hollingshead led the Trojans with a 78, while Matt Davison and Joel Weaver each had 86s and Jarred Watkins scored an 88.
Quitman was fourth at 361, while Mendenhall was fifth with a 375. Yancy Whitaker lead Quitman with an 81, while Barry Howard and Justin Hollomon each had 91s. Mark Smith scored a 98.
In District 8-2A play St. John won with a 316, while Clarkdale was second at 334. William Clinton and Brian Tomberlin led Clarkdale with 83s, while Scott Dawson and Jared Culpepper each had 84s.
