Both the men and ladies have now completed their respective city tournaments. Since this column is turned in on Friday morning, I will have complete results next week. I can tell you that a couple of surprise leaders topped the singles going into the final weekend of both tournaments. Robby Relinski was holding the top spot for the guys with a 734 and Belynda Adkins fired a nice 253 game while on her way to her first career 600 series and the tournament lead with a 735.
In local action, Mike Cothern held the hot hand last week by firing three 279's during the course of the week and reached the 700 plateau twice with a 736 and a week high 772. Curtis Rutledge also cut loose with a 279 of his own while Johnnie Blackmon reeled off a 278 game and series of 714 and 748. Mike Barfield picked up his second "7" in the last two weeks with a 719 while Bill Fike ripped a 276/718 set in the Queen City league. Jim Broderick rounded out the leader board with a 700.
Matar McClinton wore the "star of the week" pin for the ladies by blasting out a 235 and a 223 to lead all ladies with a 662 set in the Monday Nighters league. Denise Rutledge made her mark with a 221/637 while LaDonna Otwell posted a 231 and Wanda Marcy added a 225. Congratulations to Doris Smith who competed the rare triplicate with three 163's in the Bowlerettes league.
Don't forget entry deadlines are drawing closer for both the Men's State and the Ladies' State tournaments. Pick yours up soon and get your teams in.
