More than 400 shopping malls across the country are joining forces on a campaign to raise funds for victims and families of the Sept. 11 terrorists attacks in New York City and Washington.
East Mississippi and West Alabama residents can visit Bonita Lakes Mall to participate in the "United We Stand" charitable campaign to benefit a group of funds that support the families of public safety officers who lost their lives in the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks in New York City, as well as public agencies that responded to the attack on the Pentagon.
Hosted by the nation's leading shopping center companies, the "United We Stand" campaign will take place at participating shopping centers across the country, including Bonita Lakes Mall, through Oct. 31.
Throughout the campaign, residents can buy a "United We Stand" 2002 Calendar, which features images of the American flag, at each participating shopping center. Calendars will be available at the mall's Customer Service Center located at center court.
Proceeds from the sales of the $10 calendars will be donated to a group of funds run by the affected officers including: The EMS Memorial Foundation; Patrolmen's Benefit Association Widows' and Children's Fund; Port Authority Police World Trade Disaster Survivors' Fund; and Uniformed Firefighters Association Widows' and Children's Fund.
Money will also be contributed to public agencies that responded to the attack on the Pentagon.
Participating shopping centers owners and managers including CBL &Associates Properties Inc.; Coyote Management L.P.; Jones Lang LaSalle; the Macerich Co.; Richard E. Jacobs Groups; the Rouse Co.; Simon Property Group; Taubman Centers Inc.; and Westfield America Inc. also established United for America Inc., a not-for-profit charity in to serve as the third-party administrator of the "United We Stand" campaign.
Additional information on the "United We Stand" campaign and United For America is available on the Web at www.mallsunitedwestand.com.
In addition to purchasing a calendar through Bonita Lakes Mall, donations can be made to United for America by calling toll-free (877) 625-5787 or by visiting www.mallsunitedwestand.com.
