    OBITUARIES FOR SUNDAY, SEPT. 30, 2001

    Minister
    McCOMB Services for the Rev. James A. Roberts will be held today at 3 p.m. at Johnston Chapel United Methodist Church with the Revs. Ron Barham, Joe Lawson and Dr. David Young officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Catchings Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
    Mr. Roberts, 60, of Columbia, died Friday, Sept. 28, 2001, at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg. He was the minister of United Methodist Church of Columbia.
    Mr. Roberts entered the ministry in 1969 after teaching school for eight years. He served churches in the Roxie charge, Stonewall, Coker's Chapel in Meridian, the Pleasant Grove charge in Waynesboro, the Tishomingo charge, the Carolina/Pisgah charge in Booneville, the Gloster charge and the Columbia Circuit.
    His family said he loved his Lord, his family and doing the Lord's work. He was well known for his love of trains, real and model, and he entertained many with his delightful model train layouts. He also loved working with his computer, visiting the sick and the bereaved, and doing whatever he could to further the kingdom of God.
    Survivors include his mother, his wife, Jane Scott Roberts of Columbia; his son, Scott Roberts and his wife Deva of Hattiesburg; three daughters, Robin Roberts of Gulfport; Mellisa Killian and her husband, Paul of Tupelo; and Cindy Baxley and her fiance, Jimmy Kirkman of Quitman; two brothers, Tilford Roberts and his wife Barbara of Summit; and John Roberts II and his wife Debbie of Magnolia; eight grandchildren, Tonya Rojas, Kenny Killian, Mellisa Killian, Emily Killian, Meaghan Killian, Wade Baxley, Champagne Lewis and C.J. Lewis; and two great-grandchildren, Austin and Tiana Rojas.
    He was preceded in death by his father.
    Visitation will be today from 1:30 p.m.-3 p.m. at the church.
    Pallbearers will be John Roberts III, Tim Roberts, Lee Roberts, Daniel Roberts, Tony Ritter, Scout Williams and Clayton Roberts.
    T.P. VANHORN
    Retired contractor
    PHILADELPHIA Services for T.P. Vanhorn will be held today at 4 p.m. at John E. Stephens Chapel with the Revs. Larry Farris and Tom Moore officiating. Burial will be in Eastlawn Cemetery.
    Mr. Vanhorn, 78, of Philadelphia, died Friday, Sept. 28, 2001, in Deleon, Texas. He was a retired contractor and World War II U.S. Army veteran.
    Survivors include his three daughters, Alma Smith, Kathy Bounds and Sally Vanhorn, all of Philadelphia; his son, Robert Perry Vanhorn of Philadelphia; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Lazell Vanhorn.
    JAMES L. ROBILLARD
    Automotive consultant
    Services for James L. "Jimmy" Robillard will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church with the Rev. Elvin Sunds officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery with James F. Webb Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
    Mr. Robillard, 62, of Sarasota, Fla., was an automotive consultant.
    Survivors include his two sons, James Robillard II and his wife Karina, and Rick Reeves and his wife Billie, all from Florida; five daughters, LeAnn Williams of Michigan; Sue Koon and her husband, Ronald, of Florida; Donna Smith of Louisiana; Lynn Campbell and her husband, Tom, of Oklahoma; and Sheryl Crain and her husband, Tim, of Missouri; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley.
    Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. at the funeral home. There will also be a prayer service at the funeral home at 7 p.m.
    GEORGE F. OWENS
    Retired from U.S. Army
    Graveside services for George F. Owens will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Forest Lawn Cemetery with the Rev. Jamie Lamoreaux officiating. Burial will be held at the cemetery with Barham Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
    Mr. Owens, 72, of Meridian, died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2001, at The Specialty Hospital of Meridian. He was a retired member of the U.S. Army and a veteran of the Korean Conflict.
    Survivors include his two daughters, Teresa Gipson and her husband, Keith, of Decatur; and Angela Lynch and her husband, Mike, of Meridian; his son, Michael Graham of Meridian; six grandchildren, Doug Gates, Michael Graham Jr., Chris Graham, Crystal McCarty, Celeste Lynch and Mia Lynch; and two great-grandchildren, Justin and Savannah Gates.
    He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Owens and his granddaughter, Tammy Smith.
    Visitation will be Monday from 1 p.m. – 2 p.m.
    LARRY THOMAS BUIE
    Graveside services for Larry Thomas Buie will be held Monday at 2:30 p.m. at Memorial Park with the Rev. Ron McGee officiating. Burial will be in the cemetery, with James F. Webb Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
    Mr. Buie, 38, of Shreveport, La., died Friday, Sept. 28, 2001, at Shumpert Medical Center.
    Survivors include his son, Matthew Thomas of Shreveport; his daughter, Misti Thomas of Meridian; his mother, Sandra Netherland of Shreveport; his father, Larry O. Thomas and his wife Nelda of Meridian; two sisters, Desiree' Buie of Shreveport; and Angela Jowers and her husband, Hershel, of Gilmer, Texas; four half sisters, Jennifer Buie of Hattiesburg; Sherry and Deanna Netherland of Shreveport; and Leigh Ann Buie of Asheville, N.C.; his half brother, Shannon Netherland of Shreveport; his step sister, Christy Shaw of Cuba, Ala.; his step brother, Jeffery Rainey of Meridian; his maternal grandmother, Elizabeth Brown of Shreveport; and his paternal grandmother, Maudine Buie of Meridian.
    Visitation will be on Monday from 12:30 p.m.-1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
    Pallbearers will be Mike Smithson, Mark Jenkins, Anthony Clearman, David Ginn, Jeff Rainey and Jeff Shaw.
