Newton High drops decision to Ackerman

Ackerman took a 28-7 decision from Newton High on Friday night. The loss drops Newton to 1-2 on the season.
No other scoring details were known at presstime. Newton hosts Forest next week.
Patrician Academy 16, Clarke Prep 12
Patrician Academy pulled out a 16-12 win over Clarke Prep on Friday.
Patrician's Jason Etheridge scored the game-winning touchdown with seven seconds left on a seven-yard run.
Patrician's other scores came on a 55-yard run by John Cornelson with 9:59 left in the first quarter.
Fabian Bachaus kicked a 27-yard field goal later in the first quarter to put Patrician up 10-6. Clarke answered with a three-yard TD run to go up 12-10. It stayed that way until Ethridge's game-winner.
Allan Gibson led Patrician with 134 yards on 13 carries. Ethridge had 96 yards passing.
So. Choctaw Academy 20, IMS Mobile 14
Southern Choctaw pulled out a 20-14 win over IMS Mobile on Friday night.
Trailing 14-13, quarterback Brad Johnson hit Bryant Abston on a 19-yard pass in the fourth quarter to lift SCA to the win.
Also scoring for SCA were Terry Johnson on a 46-yard TD run and Brad Johnson on a 90-yard interception return. Josh Cornett booted a pair of PATs.
Southern Choctaw Academy will play Southern Academy next week.
Sumter Academy 30, Pickens Academy 12
Sumter Academy blasted Pickens 30-12 behind a big rushing game from Chase Lacoste.
Lacoste gained 116 yards on 16 attempts;. Shane Marten completed 11 of 20 passes for 108 yards. The top receiver was John Upchurch who had seven catches for 79 yards.
