Smith, Carpenter

Christin Dana Carpenter of Stonewall and James E. Smith of Meridian were married March 10, 2001, at First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Albert McMullen officiating.
Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. James Ricky Carpenter of Stonewall, Mary Jean Smith of Wister, Okla., and the late Eddie E. Smith.
Grandparents of the bride are Pleamon Griffin and Geraldine Carpenter, both of Stonewall, and the late Evely Griffin and G.R. "Bud" Carpenter.
Grandparents of the bridegroom are Bernice Nicklin of Franklin, Pa., and the late Paul J. Nicklin and William and Louise Smith.
Music for the ceremony was provided by Barry Germany, organist/pianist; and Ashley Hunter and Maygen Carpenter, soloists.
The bride was given in marriage by her father.
She wore a formal, double-strand spaghetti-strap gown of diamond white matte satin. The dress featured a scoop neckline and the fitted bodice was adorned with rhinestone and crystal beads in a diamond pattern. The box skirt cascaded into a cathedral-length train. The fingertip veil was edged in satin cording and featured a comb with rhinestone and crystal beading.
Maids of honor were Maygen Carpenter, sister of the bride, and Candy Gibson, cousin of the bride, both of Stonewall.
Other attendants were Fairla Simpson, Beth Denham and Jennifer Lafferty, all of Quitman; Paula Richards of Meridian; and Amy Brand of Gulfport.
Pete Smith, brother of the groom, of Memphis, Tenn., was best man.
Groomsmen and ushers were Scott Haywood, Von Burch, Mike Richards and Mike Grant, all of Meridian; Mike Brand of Gulfport; Andrew Baker of Allen, Texas; and Chris Highnote, of Ocean Springs.
Program attendants were Jennifer Garrett of Quitman and Laura McDaniels of Jackson. Margaret Jones of Jackson sat at the bridal registry.
A reception was held at Union Station following the ceremony.
Assisting at the reception were Ashley Hunter of Quitman; Karen Coats and Helen Touchstone, both of Stonewall; Kristi Ethridge of Meridian; and Robbin Britain and Diane George, both of Pensacola, Fla.
After a honeymoon in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, the couple resides in Meridian.
