    DAV mobile office to visit Meridian Friday
    Detailed explanations of the benefits available to disabled veterans and their families will be presented at an upcoming Disabled American Veterans Mobile Service Office visit.
    Like all services provided by the non-profit DAV, there will be no charge for on-site counseling and claim-filing assistance, which will be hosted by Meridian Chapter No. 56. It will be presented Friday at the Bonita Lakes Mall food court entrance, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
    Veterans and members of their families need not be DAV or DAV Auxiliary members to take advantage of this service. Please bring your Department of Veterans Affairs claim number, Social Security number and any other pertinent documentation to the session.
    Way of The Cross set for Friday
    The 4th annual Way of the Cross/Way of Peace walk will take place Friday with 13 churches on the route., A reading of scripture will be done at each stop, and then a presentation of the passage will be enacted. Songs and prayers are part of the three-hour event.
    The public is invited to walk along. For information, call Sister Audre' Burkhart at 693-1321.
    Public invited to upcoming events
    Check out these events, coming up in the next couple of weeks in east central Mississippi:
    April 20-21 Ralph Morgan Rodeo will be held at Ralph Morgan Arena. Tickets: $9 adults, $6 children, 6:30 p.m. For more information, call 679-8861.
    April 21 The Central Mississippi Spring Review Pageant will be held at 4 p.m. at East Central Community College's Huff Auditorium. The entry fee is $35, photo fee is $10. Contestants should wear Sunday dresses. Registration deadline is April 16. For information, call 683-7985.
    April 26 Main Event Business and Industry Expo held at the Lauderdale County Agri-Center. For information, call 482-8498.
    The staff of the Lauderdale County Agri-Center announces these upcoming events: 1.) April 22-23 Hendrix Family Circus 2.) Sixth Annual Mississippi Mule Festival 3.) Southern District NBHA Barrel Show. For more information, call 482-8498.
    Transplant Support Group meeting in Meridian
    If you have had an organ transplant, if you or a family member is in need of an organ transplant, or perhaps, if you just want to learn more about organ transplantation and donation, the Meridian Transplant/Donor Support Group will meet Saturday at 3 p.m. in the Jeff Anderson Hospital Auditorium on the ground floor. The public is invited to attend.

    Crisis Pregnancy Center being established
    A Crisis Pregnancy Center is being established for Lauderdale County. The organization will meet at Northpointe Presbyterian Church on Monday at 7 p.m. Counselors, doctors and volunteers willing to donate time should call the church at 482-7744 or Craig Ziemba at 679-8146.
    Concerts to be held at UWA
    The Mississippi Symphony Orchestra will present "Symphonic Pops from Two Worlds" on April 19, in Bibb Graves Auditorium on the campus of the University of West Alabama. The concert is sponsored by The Sumter County Fine Arts Council in cooperation with UWA. Admission is free to SCFAC Members and UWA Students. Adult admission is $7 and student admission is $2.
    The University of West Alabama Concert Choir and University Singers will present a Spring Concert on April 24 at 7:30 p.m. in Bibb Graves Auditorium. Admission is free and the public is invited to attend.
    MLT Spring Variety Sale set
    It's that time again! The Meridian Little Theatre Guild Spring Variety Sale will be held April 20-21.
    Now is the time to clean out your closets, garages and attics. Please bring your tax-deductible items to the Meridian Little Theatre, Highway 39 North, between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Large donations can be picked up. Items needed include clothes, shoes, jewelry, toys, linens, games, books, pictures, dishes, appliances, furniture and bric-a-brac.

    Auction set at Agricultural Museum
    The board of directors of the Neshoba County Philadelphia Historical Museum Inc., will hold an auction to benefit the Agricultural Museum
    The auction will be held behind the museum at 303 Water Avenue on April 21. The museum will be open at 8 a.m. for people wishing to view the items for sale. The auction will begin at 9 a.m., and will last until all items have been auctioned. All proceeds from the sale will go toward paying for the museum.
    The Ag museum will be open on Friday and Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. for items to be brought in and donated to be sold at the auction. Please do not bring clothes or shoes to be auctioned. Bring any household, tools or farm items, in good condition.
    The museum is open from 1 p.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. until noon on Saturday.
    Partnership accepting grant applications
    The Partnership for a Healthy Mississippi is accepting grant applications from faith-based organizations through its Community Youth Partners program.
    Applications for the $2,000 grants may be obtained at the office of Partnership for a Healthy Lauderdale County, 806 Highway 19 North, Suite 385. Grantees will agree to conduct a Students Working Against Tobacco day camp during the summer and conduct monthly SWAT activities throughout the year.
    The application deadline is April 20.
