MCC tennis squads split with Gulf Coast

The Meridian Community College tennis team had a successful day against Gulf Coast Community College earlier this week.
The Eagles defeated the Bulldogs by a score of 6-3, while the women's squad lost to GCCC, 7-2. Here is a complete rundown of the results:
In men's singles, Gulf Coast's Matt D'Angelo defeated MCC's Stewart Everett, 6-2, 6-4; MCC's Albert Smith def. Lief Mollerson, 6-0, 6-0; GCCC's Tyler Rosen def. Brad Dearman, 6-4, 6-7 (8-10) (10-6); GCCC'S Ben LaFarge def. Bard Curto, 6-2, 6-0; MCC's Dustin Davidson def. Cameron Kershaw, 6-3, 6-1; MCC's Kevin McDonald def. Charles Bogg , 6-2, 6-2.
In doubles action, MCC's Everett/Smith def. D'Angelo/Rosen, 8-2; MCC's Davidson/McDonald def. LaFarge/Boggs, 8-3; MCC's Curto/Dearman def. Kershaw/Mollerson, 8-1.
In women's action, GCCC's Mary Ann Strickland def. Kelly Trebisky, 6-1, 6-2; GCCC's Jessica Olsen def. Dana Vance, 6-0, 6-0; GCCC's Meghan Mason def. Jill Hathorn, 6-2, 6-2; MCC's Meredith Vance def. Ashleigh Gaddy, 6-3, 6-3; GCCC's Allison Ford def. Lauren Gavin, 7-5, 2-6, (7-1); GCCC's Krissy Gattis def. Anna Bailey 7-6, (8-6), 6-3.
In women's doubles, GCCC''s Strickland/Olsen def. Trebisky/Hathorn, 8-3; GCCC's Gaddy/Mason def. Vance/Vance, 9-8 (7-4); Gavin/Bailey def. Ford/Johnson, 9-8, (7-4).
In a match that was played earlier in the year at Perkinston, but called due to lighting difficulties, Gulf Coast prevailed 5-4.
These matches were completed when the Lady Bulldogs visited Northeast Park. Strickland def. Trebisky, 6-1, 6-4; Olson def. Vance, 6-2, 6-1; Meredith Vance def. Gaddy 4-1 (ret.); Gavin def. Gattis, 6-0, 6-4; Jamie Kirkley won by default. In doubles, Strickland/Olsen def. Vance/Vance, 8-1; Mason/Gaddy def. Hathorn/Trebisky, 10-9, (7-3); Gavin/Bailey def. Gattis/Johnson, 8-4.
MCC will be on the road April 2 at Hinds. They return to Northeast Park on April 6-7 for matches against Hinds and Itawamba.
