OXFORD Ronnie Goodwin pitched a complete game in leading Ole Miss to a 3-2 win over in-state rival Southern Miss Sunday afternoon, and earlier in the day, Evan Conley's bases loaded single in the bottom of the 17th gave the Rebels a 5-4 win over Arizona in a resumed game from Saturday.
The 17-inning contest, lasted a total of 5 hours and 4 minutes and was the longest in school history.
With the two wins on Sunday, Ole Miss improved to 12-3 on the season, marking the Rebels' best 15-game start since going 13-2 in 1968. The loss dropped Southern Miss to 10-4 and snapped its nine-game win streak.
Goodwin (2-1) pitched the first nine-inning complete game of the season for the Rebels in earning the win. He allowed two runs on six hits and one walk, while striking out five.

The Rebels answered with two runs in the fourth. Clint Farrar hit a lead-off double down the right field line and advanced to third on a balk. After Lance Jones bounced back to the pitcher, Farrar scored when Brad Montgomery couldn't handle a smash off the bat of Burney Hutchinson. Hutchinson later scored on Carl Lafferty's two-out double.
Craig Nugen then made it 3-1 with a home run to lead-off the fifth.
USM scored a run in the top of the ninth on Welch's RBI single to score Allen Winningham.
Starter Shea Douglas (1-1) took the loss for the Golden Eagles. He was charged with three runs, two earned, on five hits and struck out four.
Farrar and Lafferty recorded two hits each for Ole Miss as the Rebels out-hit the Golden Eagles 8-6.
Welch went 2-for-4 with an RBI for USM.
Nathan Lyons (1-0) earned the win versus Arizona with a scoreless inning of relief, and Rob Elias (3-1) suffered the loss.

The two teams stranded a combined 29 runners on base, 16 by Ole Miss. The game was suspended Saturday afternoon in the 12th inning with the game tied 4-4.
The Rebels had a 4-1 lead going into the ninth before the Wildcats rallied for three runs to send the game into extra innings.
