Reception set to honor MCC soccer team

Meridian Community College's National Championship soccer team will be honored with a special program and reception today at 2:30 p.m. at the MCC Cafeteria.
The public is invited to attend.
MCC posted a 24-1 record and won the NJCAA National Tournament with a 2-0 win over Bryant &Stratton (N.Y.) in Tyler, Texas on Nov. 17.
Meridian's Damani Ralph was named the Most Valuable Player of the tournament, while Ralph, Ryan Simms and Andrew McLeod were named to the All-Tournament team.
Northwest CC women 71, East Central 70: Anna Udicova poured in 27 points but homestanding Northwest came away with a one-point victory over the Lady Warriors.
East Central fell to 7-2 with the loss. Lake's Nicole Cox had 17 points while Margo Porter added 13 points.
Northwest CC men 91, East Central 69: The East Central Warriors fell 5-4 on the season as they fell by 22 to the host Rangers.
James Denson had 12 points to lead East Central.
Mississippi Gulf Coast men 76, Meridian 63: Sammie Cole scored 19 points as the MCC Eagles fell to homestanding Gulf Coast by 13.
Derrick Houston had 11 points for Meridian while Robert Ivy had 10 and Rocky Lane nine.
