Tri-county area will be under an ice storm warning late Friday

FLORENCE — The tri-county area of Lauderdale, Colbert and Franklin counties will be under an ice storm warning starting at midnight Friday through 6 p.m. Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.

Total snow and sleet accumulations to be up to 1 inch and ice accumulation between one quarter of an inch to an inch.

“Expect power outages that last more than a day and extensive tree damage due to the ice,” the weather service stated. “Significant cold weather is expected after this winter weather, so any power outages may result in dangerous indoor temperatures.”
