Red Bay win JV boys title in thriller

The Red Bay Tigers added more hardware to their trophy case this week, fending off a late rally from the Belgreen Bulldogs to win the junior varsity boys Franklin County championship, 45-40.

Red Bay controlled the tempo for much of the afternoon, maintaining a double-digit cushion through the middle quarters. The Tigers’ offense was powered by Carson Lindley, who led all scorers with 19 points. Clayton Lindley and Cayson Collins provided crucial support with nine points each.

Belgreen refused to go away quietly, mounting a furious 14-point charge in the fourth quarter to cut into the lead. Conner Vincent (10 points) and Andrew Enriquez (7 points) spearheaded the comeback attempt, but Red Bay’s poise in the final minutes allowed them to secure the fivepoint victory.

In the semifinal games: Red Bay 48, Tharptown 20 — The Tigers cruised into the finals behind a balanced attack led by Cooper Corum (10 points) and Collins (9 points), holding the Wildcats to just 20 points total.

Belgreen 41, Phil Campbell 20 — The Bulldogs earned their championship berth by racing out to a dominant 21-2 lead. Vincent led the way with 15 points to extinguish the Bobcats’ hopes early.
