Participants enjoy ‘Magic of Reading,’ the color of fruits and ballon animals

RUSSELLVILLE Laughter, wonder and a touch of enchantment filled the Russellville Public Library as magician Russell Davis brought his show “The Magic of Reading,” to town.

The event gave children a chance to see magic tricks performed while also getting a glimpse into the books that inspired Davis as a young reader and helped shape him into the magician he is today.

The library also hosted a flowerpot painting party for tweens. With extra supplies on hand, younger siblings and parents were invited to join in, making it a multigenerational artand- gardening adventure. Participants painted pots and planted succulents to take home and care for.

“Kaylie Denny, SNAPEd educator, and Shirley JimenezwiththeExtension Office brought ‘The Colors of Nutrition’ to life with a fruits the color of the rainbow craft. The also provided a fruit display with fruit dip for the children to snack on,” library Director Joshlyn Bowen said.

The library will not hold a program on July 4, but will resume its summer reading schedule on July 11 at 2 p.m. Registration opens July 7 at 10:30 a.m.
