Golden Tigers finish third in Bracy Invitational basketball tournament

The Russellville varsity boys basketball team recently took to the court for holiday hoops action.

RHS (7-4) took third place in the Bracy Invitational hosted by Deshler High School. The Golden Tigers finished the three-day tournament Dec. 28 with a 70-32 victory over the South Lamar Stallions.

Russellville’s EJ King scored 34 firsthalf points and finished the game with 36. RHS led 47-16 at the half and cruised to the win. Jah Williams also scored in double figures for RHS with 10 points. Malaki Groce and Sir Williams added seven points each, Daniel Aycock had six points and Parker Odom scored four.

The Golden Tigers opened the Bracy Invitational with a 7249 win over the Central-Florence Wildcats. EJ King continued his tremendous start to the season with 39 points versus Central. Cam Phinizee added nine points while Daniel Aycock and Rylan Pratt had six each. Sir Williams added five, Jah Williams scored four and Parker Odom had three points.

On day two of the Bracy Invitational, the Golden Tigers fell to the eventual tournament winner Brooks High School by a score of 51-48. EJ King was the game’s top-scorer with 30 points. Jah Williams scored 12 while Sir Williams and Rylan Pratt added three points each for RHS.

Prior to the Bracy Invitational, the Golden Tigers participated in the Pepsi Classic hosted by Decatur High School on Dec. 20-21.

The Florence Falcons pulled away late in the opener to defeat Russellville 73-53. EJ King led all scorers with 27 points. Jah Williams scored 11, Daniel Aycock added six and Parker Odom scored five. Malaki Groce and Sir Williams also entered the scoring column with two points apiece.

Russellville came back the following day with a 65-59 win over Mars Hill Bible School. EJ King led the way to victory with 36 points. Daniel Aycock scored 15 and Jah Williams added six. Cam Phinizee and Sir Williams finished the contest with four points each.
