Additional funds received for new Russellville Public Library

With additional reporting by Harleigh Borden.

In its regular meeting Sept. 3, the Russellville City Council accepted a $3,892,000 grant from the Department of Housing and Urban Development for the construction of a library/multipurpose center.

“I am beyond humbled and thankful to have this finally come to fruition for our community,” said Russellville Public Library director Joshlyn Bowen. “I want to thank Congressman Aderholt, the mayor, City Council and all of those that helped us finally achieve this goal.”

Bowen described the time and effort taken to get to this point. “This has been a focus of much of my time and energy in my time as director from the very beginning, with my primary goal being to bring life to RPL and building it into a bigger asset for our community. We look forward to seeing how much more we can impact this community with more space and a state-of-the-art facility.”
