Vina shuts out Belgreen to end football season

The Vina Red Devils shut out the Belgreen Bulldogs 55-0 to end the season for both teams. Vina ended the season with a 6-4 record but just missed a playoff bid. Belgreen ended their first varsity season 2-5.

Christian McCarley led the Red Devils, rushing for 162 yards on four touchdowns on offense and recording an interception and seven tackles on defense.

Vina’s first score came midway through the first quarter on a threeyard touchdown run by McCarley with Cai Lawler adding a two-point run to give the Red Devils an early 8-0 lead.

Vina scored again early in the second quarter on a 52-yard pass from Trevor Baker to Branson Vick.

The Red Devils took a 22-0 lead just before the end of the first half as McCarley scored on a 14-yard run as time expired.

Early in the third quarter, Lawler extended Vina’s lead on a four-yard run.

Tristen Farr added a three-yard run for a touchdown midway through the third quarter.

Vina scored two more touchdowns in the fourth quarter on a six-yard run by Baker and an 80-yard run by McCarley.

Lawler finished the game with 106 yards rushing and a touchdown. He added 13 tackles and three tackles for a loss on defense.

Vick had two catches for 60 yards and a touchdown. Baker had 64 yards rushing and a touchdown. He also had a passing touchdown.
