Phil Campbell Bobcats defeat Hanceville Tigers

Hayden Wingo had a dominant performance to lead the Phil Campbell Bobcats past the Hanceville Tigers 57-22. Wingo carried the ball 12 times for 338 yards and three touchdowns. He eclipsed the 1000-yard rushing mark in the game as well.

Phil Campbell scored 24 unanswered points to open the game. The Bobcats’ scoring started quickly. Wingo ran the ball 45 yards to the fiveyard line. Logan Cooper finished the drive-off with a five-yard touchdown run thirty seconds into the game. Hayston Scott completed a pass to Chandler Benford for the two-point conversion giving Phil Campbell an 8-0 lead.

The Bobcats scored again with seven minutes to go in the first quarter on a 75-yard pass from Scott to Hagen Raper down the Phil Campbell sideline. Scott ran the ball in for the conversion to give the Bobcats a 16-0 lead.

Wingo capped off the scoring in the first quarter on an eight-yard run and a two-point conversion run to give Phil Campbell a 24-0 lead with 3:12 to go in the opening period of play. Hanceville got their first score with 9:46 to go in the second quarter on a nine-yard run making the score 24-8.

Phil Campbell answered immediately when Wingo broke the defensive line and scampered 73 yards inside the five-yard line. Scott finished off the drive with a two-yard run into the end zone. Benford added the two-point conversion to give the Bobcats a 32-8 lead.

Wingo scored again on a 72-yard run by Wingo to increase Phil Campbell’s lead to 38-8. Scott added another touchdown run with 9:57 to go in the third quarter on a 25-yard run to make the score 45-8. Wingo put the finishing touches on his night with a 26-yard run to make the score 51-14.

Dylan Barber capped off the Bobcats’ scoring with a six-yard run early in the fourth quarter.

Scott ended the night with 110 yards rushing on 12 carries and two touchdowns. He also threw for a touchdown. Scott is closing in on a 1000-yard rushing season.

Mason Weeks led the team defensively with 12 tackles. Madden Welch had an interception.

Phil Campbell closes out their season with a trip to Red Bay Friday night.
