Dear Editor,

GFWC Book Lovers Study Club and Russellville Hospital partnered this year for the 7th annual Walk to Wellness for cancer awareness and fundraising. This year’s event was held in the beautiful downtown area of Russellville, starting with a 5K and then a one mile Walk to Wellness. We are so thankful for the support of the runners, walkers and sponsors of the event.

A special thank you to Heath Daily and Russellville Hospital for the planning and executing of our first 5K.

The event could not be possible without our sponsors: The Dr. John D. Burns Rehabilitation Center, CB&S Bank, First Metro Bank, Russellville First Methodist Women, McKinney Law, Mugshots Grill and Bar, Pilgrim’s, Traditions Sports Deli, Russellville Florist and Gifts, Brenda and Troy Oliver, Sibley Oil, Community Spirit Bank, Jimmy and Sandy Montgomery, and John K. Walters, Russell Financial Advisors. It is through the support and generosity of these sponsors that we can help individuals during their journey to wellness.

As a community service volunteer organization, Book Lovers is proud to be in a community that supports and shows genuine compassion to its fellow citizens. This theme of compassion is what inspired this year’s event to be named the Maudie and Roger Bedford 5K and One Mile Walk to Wellness. Maudie and Roger gave their support and showed compassion to many individuals going through cancer treatment.

We look forward to seeing this event grow each year through the continued support of our community.
