County football teams take losses

Phil Campbell fell to Hamilton 55-40 in both teams’ opener. The teams combined 1192 yards in total offense – Hamilton 620 yards and Phil Campbell 572 yards. The Bobcats ran the ball 35 times for 476 yards.

Phil Campbell had three players cross the 100-yard mark on the ground. Hayden Wingo carried the ball five times for 158 yards, and Noah Raper carried the ball seven times for 127 yards and three touchdowns.

Quarterback Hayston Scott carried the ball 16 times for 128 yards and three touchdowns. He also passed for 96 yards.

Wingo led the defense with nine tackles, followed by Raper with seven tackles.

Red Bay lost to Lamar County, 50-32. Belgreen lost to Sumiton Christian, 49-18. Tharptown fell 34-0 to Waterloo. Russellville fell 28-14 to Mars Hill.
