Roxy holds June 15 concert, plans other events

Lucas A. Shepherd will be performing at the Historic Roxy Theatre in downtown Russellville June 15 at 7 p.m. A native of Russellville, he is known for his second-baritone voice blends, a balance of traditional and modern country music. He has worked with a variety of performers, including fellow Roxy performers Darryl Worley, Georgette Jones, James LeBlanc and his uncle, Earl “Peanut” Montgomery.

Shepherd began singing in church when he was five years old. He wrote his first song, “Sorrow,” at seven years old. He attended Russellville City Schools and spent two years at Northwest Shoals Community College. Chris Williams will be joining him. Williams is a county singer and songwriter from Hamilton, Ala.

Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the door or purchased on the Roxy’s Facebook page. The doors open at 6 p.m.

Rockin’ at the Roxy with the Great Pretenders will be held July 13 at 7 p.m. The longtime annual show features a variety of entertainers performing as their favorite artists. Those interested in participating should call 256-810-2711 or contact a member of the Franklin County Arts Council.

The Roxy will hold a Cruise-in Sept. 14. See their Facebook page for more information.
