National day reminds us to show kindness
This Saturday is the annual National Random Acts of Kindness Day. If you’re unfamiliar with the concept, you may be wondering exactly what a random act of kindness is.
Scott Adams said there’s “no such thing as a small act of kindness” because “every act creates a ripple with no logical end.”
It’s about being more mindful of what we can do, whether large or small, to be kind as we go about our day, whether that’s writing a note, sending a card, buying a meal, helping someone figure out a problem, offering encouragement or paying a compliment.
Mark Twain described kindness as “a language in which the deaf can hear and the blind can see.” Perhaps we can all take a little more time to keep these thoughts in mind, not just on a special day, but every day. Every little bit makes a difference.
