Belgreen volleyball team wins area tournament

After last week’s win, the Belgreen High School volleyball team is now ranked No. 1 in the area and No. 6 in the state for 1A volleyball. They played against Hackleburg Tuesday last week and against Phillips two days later.

“We won three straight sets on both games,” explained the team’s coach, Julianna Potts. “Our players are really growing as a team. Carson Hovater stepped in as our setter while our setter’s been hurt the past two weeks. A lot of the team members are stepping up. One of my seniors, Morgan Vandiver, she’s really stepped up and led the team.”

Potts said she’s “very excited” about the progression of the season.

“My team’s doing very well right now. We’re executing everything and putting it all together and working as a team. We’ve really clicked and it’s been a fun adventure.”

Belgreen volleyball will host the area tournament the week of Oct. 16. The date has not been set yet.
