Tharptown cross country wins Fairview Invitational

The Tharptown cross-country team has been on the precipice of some big wins in recent years. The Wildcats got over the hump and won the Class 1A-4A boys division of the Fairview Invitational meet Saturday.

Tharptown’s boys team came in ahead of St.Bernard, Pisgah, Asheville, Fyffe, Athens Bible and Vinemont to get the win. Jessie Mitchell earned Elite Runner honors with a third place finish in the boys division. Tharptown’s Abby Wilson placed eighth overall in the girls division, earning Elite Runner honors as well.

“I’m really proud of this team,” said Tharptown cross-country coach Joseph Brown. “They work hard and they are dedicated. We have a lot of individual and team goals, and if we keep working, we can make those a reality.”
