Northwest Regional Library offers books by mail to qualifying Franklin County residents

In celebration of Library Card Sign-up Month, the Northwest Regional Library is reminding people of its Books by Mail program. Participation is open to qualifying residents in Franklin, Marion and Lamar counties.

“Participation in Books By Mail is for people who are homebound or physically disabled as well as those who live 10 miles or more from a library,” explained program head Kim Spiller.

“There are usually two to three books sent per mailing,” added library assistant Autumn Sizemore. “Program participation is free, and return postage is provided.”

In order to take part in the program, a patron has to give up their local library card. Spiller explained this helps avoid confusion about where to return books; additionally, it makes it easier to help with recommendations, by knowing what people have read.

For more information, call the Northwest Regional Library at 205-487-2330 or visit www.northwestregional.net.

The Weatherford Library in Red Bay is affiliated with the Northwest Regional Library.
