A Homecoming win

The Red Bay Tigers picked up their first win of the season in a pounding of the Tharptown Wildcats for Homecoming Friday night.

A rain-soaked field didn’t slow down the Tigers, as they scored five rushing touchdowns on the way to a 54-7 region win.

Aiden Quinn led the way for the Tigers, carrying the ball nine times for 183 yards and three touchdowns.

The Tigers got their first score on pick-six when Elijah Luster intercepted a Tharptown pass and returned it 45 yards for the touchdown, giving Red Bay a 6-0 lead.

Quinn scored his first of three straight touchdowns on the Tigers’ next drive on a 15-yard run to paydirt. He followed that with a two-point conversion run to give Red Bay the 14-0 lead.

Later in the first quarter, Quinn ran untouched for 55 yards to give the Tigers a 22-0 lead.

Early in the second quarter, Quinn scored his third touchdown of the night. This time he raced 65 yards for the score, giving Red Bay a 30-0 lead.

The Tigers added one more score before halftime on a 7-yard pass from Gage Edgemon to Nathan Elrod for a 38-0 lead.

Red Bay scored twice more in the second half on runs by Conner McNeil and Blake Nix, extending Red Bay’s lead to a dominating 54-0.

The Tharptown Wildcats got their lone score as time was expiring in the fourth quarter on a six-yard run by Hunter Reynolds. Ismael Perez added the point after.

Chloe Knoblock was crowned Red Bay’s Homecoming Queen prior to the start of the game. Makenna Ables was crowned Homecoming Princess, and Anna Kate Kennedy was crowned Football Queen.

Red Bay will host Belmont, Miss., Friday night, and Tharptown will host Cherokee for Homecoming.
