Library offers relationship program

The Weatherford Library in Red Bay is hosting a Healthy Relationships workshop for the first time through the Franklin County Extension System, May 16 from 1-2 p.m.

Extension Agent Melanie Allen will be hosting the workshop.

Allen said the program covers topics like seven steps of conflict management, calming routines, six emotion categories, learning to use “I” statements, the importance of communication and listening, power and control versus equality – and how to tell if you are in a healthy relationship.

“It is important to be lifelong learners and to educate ourselves and then educate others,” Allen said. “I like to educate our seniors because they can share information with their children and grandchildren. Many seniors are helping to rear or raise their grandchildren or the neighborhood children.”

She will have handouts and reading materials for those who participate in the program.
